Waving hello to me

I try to be especially cautious when I say or write anything about my time here in bali, since it all sounds so extraordinary that everyone is sure it is just a figment of my imagination since there really cannot be a place like this. So this morning when I was walking back from spending my morning hours at the sea, meditating, praying, qigong, resting, journaling, I was a bit surprised when a sudden wind started to cause a swaying of all the trees tops around me. It seemed a bit strange that a moment before, I walked through the forest and everything was perfectly still and quiet and I was marveling at the beauty and the shades of green and the joy it gives me that these are my surroundings.  And out of the blue just to tops of all the trees began to sway excitedly. I continued to walk home and continued to just experience it all in wonder. And then I laughed. I had just heard the laughing and smiling and playful trees telling me that they are just welcoming me back and saying hello! And just as suddenly as it started, it ended as I passed them, grateful to be part of this extraordinary communication that is possible when living so close to nature.  Everything comes alive and speaks just like humans do. This is what I missed when I was away. I felt alone and far away from the comforting dialogue I had enjoyed daily with these lush tropical surroundings. I am sure it is possible in any natural surroundings, but maybe it means that I need to learn a foreign language in order to understand them….and here it is my mother tongue.
