my first morning here

what a surprise to suddenly open up my eyes and see the sun shining through the yellow curtains and realize i had just slept 8 hours! at the age of 58 that is quite the miracle...sleeping through the night...and realizing that the past few nights had been spent sleeping on an airplane or leaning over a desk at the airport and waking up each hour....so a nice bed was happily welcomed....and the sunshine even more so, after having heard the rain at night before falling asleep.
and i ask myself..."what is it about this place that makes me feel so good?" hearing the sea in the background all the time? feeling like a princess waking up in a posted bed with lovely gauze netting above and around me? being served by kind gentle balinese people healthy freshly squeezed pineapple juice, and a plate full of papaya, watermelon and exquisitely cut pineapple pieces with a tiny slice of lime to squeeze over it all in order to bring out the sweetness? is it sitting and eating all this on a stone table with wooden chairs opposite the sea without a soul in sight? is it the lush greenery surrounding me along with the wet puddles on the winding black stone path from my room out to the sea? the nice warm air? the little bird that came onto the tree outside my room, flicking his long black tail up and down excitedly and singing?
yes, i know i could be writing this same blogspot from my deck in yodfat on the warm wintery mornings that we have had there lately....but the sea.....being served....knowing someone is making my bed up....i like it.

met the other 2 guests here...hetti and heder....(me and names!!!!!!!!!!!!!) from switzerland that have been here since christmas and have the same mindset ( and laptop) as me...just sea and sun and quiet and nothing...but i was friendly enough to just go up and introduce myself and ask if they go on any trips to include me...otherwise we will all probably just lay low...not needing much else than sea sun and wi-fi!!

was able to watch rav live for a few seconds, but the internet is slow here, so hopefully i can download it later and see and hear it smoothly...there is a 6 hour time difference...it is now 10:30 in the morning...a green dragonfly alighting on the black sand...a rare blue sky and a sea a bit calmer than yesterday but way to strong for snorkeling now...

the drive in with dewha (names!!??!!) was fascinating....since he is a devout hindu and was willing to answer every single question i posed...and slowly being able to put all the puzzle pieces togetherl; what is a priest, priestess, god, goddess, balian (supernatural man/woman) what they each do, how you become one, how you go up the steps of devotion, what is the meaning of life, reincarnation, money, work, offerings, honesty, lying, hell heaven, stealing, family, prayer, temples, shiva, vishnu brahma, are, necessity....very enlightening....grateful to him for his explanations all in perfect english ( not to be taken for granted!!) and scattered with a little giggle each time before answering me....

and then arriving here and meeting all of the staff that is still here from last march, and some new ones, and a nice reception by the owners, who are kind enough to make me my "regular abstinent " food everyday with joy. very grateful that that will be simple and healthy and not get me all off center with sugar and flour and spices...
been there, done that, prefer the simple and known as far as food goes....
