thinking big

i just returned from a short trip into the mountainside, with the owners, who were going to visit another piece of land they have there too...17,000 square acres....think big!

they have plans to build there, in among the terraced farm land, an ecological resort including individual houses, spa, meditation hall, restaurant, pool, etc...all quietly and joyfully placed among nature and made entirely and run entirely ecologically....

these are dreams, plans, visions, that are starting to get skin and bones to them...and it is so nice to see them relaxed, and feeling out the different areas (17.000 square acres...just to walk around it takes a while!) .

at the moment, a 50+ year old farmer who has been working this land for the past 40 years, plants cotton, peanuts, and corn this season, along with huge mango trees that he planted only 10 years ago, and anona, cashew, jackfruit, durian, pineapples...in short, anything and everything that can grow from the rainfall during the monsoon season (can be up to 6 months long).

their plan is to keep him on also when they build, and he will continue to garden and tend the land. nicole said that they will do it like the way children play, trying things out, and having a nice time letting it evolve. jochan brings a few trees and plants each time they come so slowly building up a nursery so that when they begin building in a few years, there will already be big shrubs and trees for gardens too.

as we sat there enjoying the cool breeze, the view of the sea from high up, and the sunset that was setting behind us, hearing the roosters, and the crickets geckos, dogs, and just looking out at all of this paradise and dream they will realize, some rock music started blaring out from a little palm leaf shack just beyond their property....reinforcing the necessity to also buy up the land all around too...so that this eco-resort will be able to aim towards a very special alternative vacation or stay to those interested in a peaceful natural environment on the mountainside of northern bali....amazing to me how people can think so big....and know they will actualize their vision.
